Lifetime warranty on air and water leaks
A leak is the one defect that proves the installation was rushed. We warrant against it for as long as you own the vehicle — and we say plainly below what that does and does not include, because a warranty you have to decode is not a warranty.
- Covered
- Air leaks, water leaks and wind noise from our workmanship — for as long as you own the vehicle.
- Not covered
- New impact damage, collision, break-ins, pre-existing rust, and driving before the safe drive-away time.
- Tint film
- Manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change; installation warranted by us.
- To claim
- Call (916) 813-1966. No paperwork — the installation is on record, and a technician comes to the vehicle.
What is covered, in plain terms
Every windshield, back glass and door glass installation carries a lifetime warranty against air and water leaks arising from our workmanship. In practice that means three symptoms:
- Wind noise or a whistle that appears at speed and was not there before.
- Water inside the cabin at the glass line — a damp headliner corner, a wet A-pillar trim, a damp carpet under the dash.
- A moulding that lifts or pulls away from the body.
All three come from the same root cause: a gap in the urethane bead, or a pinch weld that was not properly cleaned and primed. That is our work, so it is our problem to fix.
What is not covered, and why
| Situation | Why it is not a warranty claim |
|---|---|
| A new rock chip or crack | Fresh impact damage. Nothing to do with the installation — and often repairable if you call quickly. |
| Glass broken in a collision | New damage, and usually an insurance matter. |
| Glass broken in a break-in | New damage. We treat these as urgent and usually same-day. |
| Rust at the pinch weld | Corroded metal cannot hold a bond. If we find it we tell you before starting; if it is treated later, the repair is body-shop work. |
| Leaks from prior body damage | A distorted opening from an earlier accident will leak regardless of who fits the glass. |
| Driving before safe drive-away time | The bond had not reached strength. This is the one exclusion that is genuinely about safety rather than money. |
Window tint
The film carries the manufacturer's warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination and colour change — the failures that made cheap dyed film notorious. We warrant the installation itself.
Three things void it, and all three are avoidable:
- Ammonia-based glass cleaner. Most household blue glass cleaners are ammonia-based, and ammonia dissolves film adhesive. Use an ammonia-free cleaner or plain soapy water.
- Rolling the windows down during the first three days. The adhesive has not bonded; the door seal drags the top edge off.
- Scraping the inside of the rear window. It takes the film and the defroster grid with it.
The tint aftercare guide covers the first week in detail.
How to claim
Call (916) 813-1966 and describe the symptom — where the noise or water shows up, and in what conditions. There is no form and no paperwork; the installation is on record.
A technician comes to the vehicle, the same way as for the original job. If the fault is ours, it is corrected at no charge. If it turns out to be something else — a blocked sunroof drain, a perished door seal, a cowl gasket — we will tell you that too, and tell you what it actually is.
Warranty questions
What does the Safety Prime auto glass warranty cover?
Safety Prime Auto Glass & Tint warrants its installations for as long as you own the vehicle against air leaks and water leaks caused by workmanship — a whistle at speed, wind noise, or water entering the cabin at the glass. If a windshield we fitted does any of those, we return and correct it at no charge.
What is not covered by the warranty?
New impact damage such as a fresh rock chip, glass broken in a collision or an attempted break-in, leaks caused by pre-existing rust or body damage at the pinch weld, and damage from driving before the safe drive-away time the technician gave you. Those are separate jobs, not warranty failures.
Is the window tint warranted?
The film itself carries the manufacturer’s warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change, and Safety Prime Auto Glass & Tint warrants the installation. Damage from ammonia-based glass cleaners, from rolling the windows down during the first three days of curing, or from scraping the interior of the rear window is not covered.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Call (916) 813-1966 and describe what the vehicle is doing — where the noise or water appears, and at what speed or in what conditions. No paperwork is required; the installation is on record. A technician comes to the vehicle, the same as for the original job.
