Side Mirror Repair & Replacement
A side mirror is the cheapest thing on a car to break and one of the most annoying to drive without. It is also, on a modern car, no longer just a mirror — there is a heater element, a turn signal, a puddle lamp and a blind-spot sensor in most of them.
- Can just the mirror glass be replaced without the whole housing?
- Often yes. If the housing and the arm are intact and only the mirror glass is cracked, the glass alone can be replaced quickly and far more cheaply than the full assembly. If the arm is snapped or the housing is smashed, the whole assembly needs replacing.
- Will a replacement mirror keep my blind-spot warning and heating?
- Yes, when it is matched to the vehicle. On many 2016-and-newer cars the blind-spot warning lamp is built into the mirror glass, alongside a heater element and often an integrated turn signal. Safety Prime Auto Glass & Tint matches the assembly to the year, make and model so all of those keep working.

Glass only, or the whole housing
If the housing survived and only the mirror glass is cracked, the glass alone can usually be replaced — it is far cheaper and it takes minutes. Bring it up when you call.
If the arm is snapped, the housing is smashed, or the mirror flaps loose, the assembly is going. That is when the electronics matter: heated glass, integrated indicator, approach lamp and blind-spot monitor all have to be matched or they stop working.
Blind-spot monitoring
On a lot of 2016-and-newer cars the blind-spot warning light lives in the mirror glass itself, and the radar sensor sits behind the rear bumper rather than in the mirror. Fitting a plain mirror to a car that had a blind-spot indicator leaves you with a safety system that still detects but no longer warns.
