What matters on a Cybertruck
There is a second reason tint matters more on a Tesla Cybertruck than on a gasoline car: pre-cooling a hot cabin costs range. Every minute of air conditioning on a parked car comes out of the battery. Film that keeps the cabin twenty degrees cooler while it sits is the cheapest range upgrade available for the money.
On a working Cybertruck, tint is about the cab rather than the look. A truck that sits on a job site all day with the sun on the windshield turns into an oven by three o'clock, and the dashboard is usually the first thing to crack. Ceramic on the side glass and a legal strip at the top of the windshield changes that afternoon completely.
California's tint law, and where the Cybertruck sits in it
The law is the same for every car and it is stricter than most states. Front side windows must let through at least 70% of visible light, measured as glass and film combined. The windshield may be tinted only along the top four inches, at the AS-1 line. Rear side windows and the rear windshield have no darkness limit at all.
That last sentence is why a Tesla Cybertruck can look properly finished and still be legal: go as dark as you like behind the B-pillar, keep the front doors light, and the car passes. A shop offering to put 20% on the front doors of your Cybertruck is offering you a fix-it ticket.
The trick people miss is that darkness and heat are different problems. Heat is carried by infrared, not by visible light. A legal 70% nano-ceramic film on the front doors rejects far more heat than an illegal 20% dyed film — you stop paying for darkness and start paying for the thing you actually wanted.
Film choice and price for a Cybertruck

On a Tesla Cybertruck the ceramic is the one to buy. The glass roof — or, on an EV, the range cost of pre-cooling — makes the difference measurable rather than theoretical.

The first week after installation
Leave the windows up for three days. The adhesive is still bonding, and the top edge is the vulnerable part — rolling a window down drags it against the door seal and peels it. In cold or damp weather give it five days.
You will see a slight milky haze and possibly small soft water pockets for the first week or two. That is the mounting solution evaporating and it clears on its own. Hard-edged bubbles that never change shape are contamination rather than moisture, and those are worth a phone call.
From then on: never use an ammonia-based glass cleaner. Most household blue glass cleaners are, and ammonia dissolves film adhesive. Ammonia-free cleaner or plain soapy water, on a microfibre cloth, wiping the top edge horizontally.
